Non-Traditional Scholarship Application
The American Association of University Women is an organization whose mission is to promote equality, lifelong education, and positive societal change for all women and girls. In support of this mission, the Iron Mountain-Kingsford AAUW branch is offering a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 for women living in Dickinson, Iron, and Florence counties, including Niagara, and surrounding areas. The American Association of University Women Scholarship Criteria is as follows:
- Applicants must be 22 years of age or older
- Applicants must be pursuing a certificate program, an associate’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree program in the fall.
Our mission is to promote the education of women and the intention of this scholarship is to open or re-open the door for new or returning students who have been away from education for a period of time and have chosen to return to college to improve their employability skills. Past recipients of the scholarship may not reapply. The scholarship winner will be chosen based on a variety of factors; including financial need, likelihood of success, and a personal essay.
We encourage all applicants to consider becoming involved in AAUW both during their post-secondary education years and continue throughout their lifetime. Many colleges have student affiliates as do many communities across the country. Go to www.aauw.org for more information!
